Extra fees that may occur (I promise to keep you notified if your dog falls into any of these categories) & grooming polices
Cancellation policy
If you are not able to make an appointment, I will need 24 hours notice. If this has not been given you will have to be pay your pooches fee before i will rebook you in. This is recorded on your card. Not showing up or not giving me 24 hours notice puts my business in jeopardy, as i might not have enough time to re-book that appointment, which takes away my wage that i need to keep my salon open and food on the table which is not fair. The fee is 50% of your dogs grooming price.
'No show' policy
Anyone who 'no shows' (does not show up for their appointment) i will text you to see if your still coming after 10 mins of being late, if no response is given i'm not going to be able to offer you any further appointments, without you paying for all your appointments in advance and paying your 50% of grooming price cancellation fee. This makes it so i can't fill your appointment, looses me my wage and i have to sit around waiting for you i think this is incredibly rude. As would you if your boss suddenly said 'i'm not paying you today'. If you can not make your appointment please let me know even if you got in sooner with another groomer or can't afford it i won't mind as long as you give me notice so i can fill your slot be honest with me please.
If your late for your appointment you may be turned away, i set times for a reason i may have a dog in that hates other dogs or people so i need to make sure there's time to get that dog done and out before your dog comes. This also in most cases does not give me time to do your dog which is why you may be turned away. If you are a repeat offender of being late and sent away i will not give you appointments without paying ahead of time as this loses me my wage since i've just lost your dog and the slot your dog had.
Late pick ups
Due to my limited kennel space i am unable to offer a 'day care' space for your dog if you need to leave your dog for a bit please let me know. If your dog takes over an hour to be picked up and it has not been discussed i may have to charge a boarding fee.
Flea Policy
All dogs will be given a check over when entering the salon if your dog has fleas they will immediately be bathed in flea shampoo to prevent any other clients getting them and with your consent i will give them an Ridiscet Flea bath this will incur a fee of £5 on top of your dogs full groom due to the products being costly and time consuming. Please note anywhere your dog has been there will be fleas living there so even if i kill the ones on your dog the dog can still get them again if they go back into your car or home if you have not taken any action to exterminate them. Also it may not be possible for me to find fleas until i start clipping or bathing your dog, to whihc you will be given a text asking if you would like to pick your dog up that second and pay for work done and teat your dog for fleas then rebook once your dog is flea free or for me to bath your dog in flea shampoo and continue the groom as normal and be charged the £5 fee.
Tick Policy
I'm sorry but i don't treat ticks they scare me, if i find ticks i will advise you to see a vet.
Anal Glands
Sorry but I do not do anal glads. This is because new legislation states that to determine if a dogs anal glands needs expressing a Veterinary diagnostic must be carried out. Here is the statment PIF (Pet Industry Federation) made about this.
Anal glandsA vet should first identify whether a dog needs regular expression of the anal glands and advise how frequently it should be done by a competent person, to avoid unnecessary forceful squeezing of anal sacs that don’t need emptying.
Internal expression of the para-anal sacs involves entering the body cavity, which is the practice of veterinary surgery, and can therefore only be carried out by a veterinary surgeon of student/registered veterinary nurses working under the direction of their veterinary surgeon employer.
Members are advised only to undertake external expression of anal glands if this has previously been demonstrated to them by a veterinary surgeon, and only on the advice of an individual dog’s veterinary surgeon. If there appears to be a problem with the anal sac, groomers should not carry out the procedure and advise the customer visits a vet. The groomer should not attempt internal expression of the para-anal sacs.
Groomers wishing to offer external anal gland expression should check with their insurers whether they are covered for carrying out this procedure. This is important in the event of a health problem occurring and the procedure being implicated.

Ear infections and Plucking
I'm not allowed to do anything to a dogs ears if they look or smell infected this includes cleaning and plucking. I'm also not allowed to go into the inner ear cavity to pluck or clean i can only remove hair and clean the external meatus of the ear. If your dog requires any treatment of the inner ear this should only be carried out by a vet. Information regarding this is further down on the above anal gland link.
Extra Information
Allergies
As the owner of your dog you are required to let me know if your dog has any allergies, if your dog has skin allergies please bring your 'maleseb' shampoo from the vets. If you do not warn me of allergies i will use 'Hypoallergenic groomers all natural honey and oatmal shampoo', and i will not be held accountable for the outcome. Please also note dogs tend to get allergies or allergy symptoms from diet, grass, metal allergies, parasite allergies etc which grooming can unearth from taking the coat shorter. I will check for these in the pre grooming consultation or if i find some before bathing i will phone you and take pictures to make extra sure you know i have not caused it. If your Dog is matted it will not be possible to see until the coat is clipped off ( you will be required to sign a matted dog form)
Poochilicous Paws Don'ts
I do not de-scale/clean/ brush dogs teeth.
I DO NOT GROOM DOGS WITH MITES OR WORMS! Mites and worms are highly infectious which is why i won't have dogs with them in my salon to protect other clients and myself please take your dog to a vet if you find these. If i find your dog has these they will have to go home immediately so i can fully disinfect the salon and equipment
I DO NOT GROOM DOGS IN HEAT! since it upsets her, other dogs and can be messy.
I DO NOT groom dogs who are pregnant or ones which are whelping! as i will absolutely take no responsibility in stressing out these gorgeous girls and in a worst case scenario them losing their puppies because of stress. Once the pups are weaned and have gone to their homes i can do it. Think ahead i can give your girl a good groom before you mate her so she can be cooler and not full of matts which can stress her out it will also keep her cleaner.
If your dog falls under the dangerous dogs act they will be refused grooming as a precaution to protect my clients and myself. These breeds include the pit bull terrier (also known as the IRISH Staffordshire bull terrier, the Irish blue Staffordshire bull terrier and the American Staffordshire bull terrier these which have been told to me by officials tend to be full Pit Bull under a fake name or mixed with Pit bulls), The Japanese Tosa, The Filo Bassilario and the Dogo Argentinio. Although it must be pointed out i have no malice for these breeds at all as i love all dogs i just would like to keep risks at an absolute minimal.
I DO NOT groom severely aggressive dogs or dogs that are too poorly to be groomed. If your dog falls into these categories they will be sent home and you will be charged for any work carried out.
PLEASE WALK YOUR DOGS OR LET THEM OUT FOR PEE'S AND POOS BEFORE BRINGING THEM FOR GROOMING AS I CAN NOT (i would need to buy dog walkers insurance separately) AND ITS NOT FAIR LEAVING A DOG CROSSING THEIR LEGS FOR HOURS AND HOURS BE GOOD TO YOUR DOGS LET THEM GO TO THE TOILET BEFORE BEING MADE POOCHILICIOUS! :)
